In the Shadows of the West, curated by Charles H. Lee, confronts the mythology of the American West, whose iconography of the cowboy, the open range and frontier dress has been detached from the diverse communities whose labor, knowledge and traditions created it. The exhibition's artists collectively reclaim and reconstruct the pluralistic origins of Western American culture.
