HYMNAL: my trans hymen and other hims presents new oil paintings by Avery Z. Nelson that translate psychological and bodily experience into layered, shifting compositions. Working intuitively, Nelson builds porous spaces where body and landscape interpenetrate, and gestures double across perspectives. Vibrant color meets stark blacks, while language, filmic framing, and looping structures inform works that reflect on inhabiting a trans body in time.
