Abigail McCallum’s "History of Our Blood" presents gestural abstract oil paintings that repeatedly reference the human body and its vascular system. Drawing on religious stories and rituals, McCallum treats blood as both biological and spiritual, and looks at how humans meet the divine near trees in scripture and myth. The works explore lineage, ritual, rootedness and rupture, and a shared bloodline running through art history.
