Hélio Luís is a Lisbon-based, self-taught artist whose large-scale paintings draw from literature, photography, and archival cinema. His work examines inherited visual legacies within European art, including colonial histories and idealized representations, situated in a contemporary context. Gestural paint handling and layered surfaces coexist with figurative structures, foregrounding material process and historical tension.
