Spectacular Brooding is an exhibition by Los Angeles–based artist Harmony Holiday examining Black grief through the tension between private ritual and public performance. The gallery is organized as a dance studio and a cutting room, where rehearsal, live movement, writing, oral histories, and film explore what Holiday describes as the “Black Backstage,” an intimate space of creative and emotional labor. The work considers choreography, domestic space, and documentation as sites of reflection and care.
