Roberts Projects presents False Stars, an exhibition of new work by Wendy Red Star that takes the Star Quilt through a series of material transformations. Drawing on the Star Quilts of her Apsáalooke upbringing in Montana, Red Star uses earth pigments, mirrors, acrylic beads, watercolor, gouache, and paper in mirrored installations and works on paper that retain the quilt’s structure of diamond, color, and repetition while largely dispensing with cloth and stitching.
