Alexis Hunter’s *Chimera* spans four decades of the feminist artist’s practice, bringing together paintings populated by birds, reptiles, mammals, and human-animal hybrids. Drawing on mythology, feminism, politics, and her experiences in Britain and Mexico, Hunter used fantastical creatures to explore power, identity, conflict, and transformation. Her psychologically charged works blur fantasy and reality while confronting social and cultural instability.
