Toyen: Dreaming in the Margins at Richard Saltoun Gallery is the first UK exhibition dedicated to Surrealist artist Toyen (1902–1980), bringing together her extensive graphic works—books, prints, drawings, and archival materials—from a single-owner collection. Renowned for her fiercely independent identity and Surrealist collaborations with Jindřich Štyrský and Jindřich Heisler, Toyen used the book as a space of resistance, eroticism, and poetic freedom. The exhibition traces her lifelong pursuit of political, sexual, and artistic liberation, from underground erotic publications in interwar Prague to wartime acts of defiance and later collaborations in postwar Paris.
