House to Body Shift at Sprüth Magers surveys Kaari Upson’s lifelong exploration of the ties between body and home. Beginning with “Larry,” a neighbor turned invented muse, Upson used found objects, latex casts, charcoal, drawings, and videos to dissolve boundaries between domestic space and flesh. From grotto-inspired works to cast mattresses, chandeliers, and fences, her practice transforms trauma, intimacy, and memory into uncanny, doubled forms of self and other.
