Installation view, Alessandra Acierno: Everything I See I Swallow, Sea View Gallery , Los Angeles, 2026
Alessandra Acierno’s Everything I See I Swallow stages “unstable encounters”—troubled glances, undress, murky figures, witching-hour landscapes—with a low-simmering unease. Doubling and the doppelgänger (shaped by her experience of mothering a daughter) turn adolescence into a field of identification and estrangement. Subjects look back out, implicating the viewer in Balthusian ambiguity rather than moral resolution.
