The fourth Uptown Triennial at Columbia's Wallach Art Gallery celebrates Harlem's Children's Art Carnival, the free community arts program that MoMA reimagined in Harlem in 1969 under artist and Studio Museum co-founder Betty Blayton-Taylor. Work by contemporary Black and diverse artists shaped by the Carnival appears alongside archival materials, personal photographs, and oral histories tracing its role as a pedagogical model for community-based arts education.
