Charles Burchfield's *Elemental* brings together ten watercolors from the Whitney's collection, made between 1916 and 1960, including *Cricket Chorus in the Arbor* (1917), *An April Mood* (1946–55) and *Cold September Rain* (1957). Marking 70 years since the museum's 1956 Burchfield retrospective, the focused display explores the American painter's lifelong attention to weather, seasons and the sounds of the natural world.
