Cecilia Vicuña’s *Quipu of Encounters: The Dream of Water* at MOCA is a newly commissioned project for the inaugural Eric and Wendy Schmidt Environment and Art Prize. Drawing on the Quechua quipu—knotted cord as record—the multi-phase work joins artists, youth, scientists, and Indigenous water defenders in Chile and Los Angeles.
