In Soft Perimeter, Carmen Argote uses cochineal dye, an ancient pigment derived from insects, to explore transformation, embodiment, and resilience. Inspired by the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, her sculptures and dyed linen works evoke containment and release, with shifting colors symbolizing the body’s fluids, memory, and natural forces that resist boundaries and reshape the world around them.
