Dwight Ripley’s Birds, Fish, and Cages revisits ink-and-colored-pencil drawings on stationery from his 1951 Tibor de Nagy show of the same name. Viewers encounter peacocks, fish, pterodactyls, and other creatures held in eccentric wire cages, cathedral windows, and cubist enclosures. The suite pairs botanical-fantastical draftsmanship with playful architectures of containment.
