Between a Memory and Me is the first Los Angeles solo exhibition by Rahim Fortune, born in Austin and raised in the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma. Fortune's black-and-white photographs weave together portraits of Black life, vast landscapes, and close-up studies. New color photographs respond to the Texas African American Photography Archive, while a short film lingers lovingly on the fields and roads of rural Texas—celebrating histories embedded in the land and the traditions they carry forward.
