Avery Wheless: Echo

Avery Wheless's "Echo" presents new paintings and a fragrance in which figures loosen into abstraction, appearing as afterimages. Drawing on the Greco-Roman myths of Echo, Mnemosyne, and Morpheus, she pairs their imagery with contemporary figures to explore memory, perception, and how women's identities are shaped by the gaze of others. A scent developed with Goliath and MANE extends these ideas beyond the visual.
