Amor Prohibido is Pau S. Pescador's third exhibition with Tyler Park Presents, continuing the artist's exploration of photography, performance, and the photographic document. Reflecting on their Latinx trans identity, Pescador examines how a trans body operates within public space and whether its visibility becomes inherently political. The exhibition features three bodies of work: Polaroid self-portraits taken in the artist's bed; a gridded photographic series documenting the ephemeral arrangement of colorful props in public Los Angeles spaces; and a video artwork combining filmed and found media with text exploring the artist's lived experience navigating the world amid laws targeting trans rights. Through these interconnected works, Pescador interrogates private and public space, visibility, and resistance through humor and performance.
