Alfredo Travieso: Flag for Demagogues

Alfredo Travieso’s *Flag for Demagogues* is a public sculpture on Dimensions Variable’s building exterior, part of his series of “spatial paintings” that extend geometric abstraction into three dimensions. Yellow, blue and red poles angle off the facade into open air, a warped, cartoonish Venezuelan flag. The work explores failed promises and disillusionment, and how empty space can carry as much weight as matter.
