*Face to Face* puts Alex Katz and Julian Opie in dialogue around the human figure and the art of reduction. Katz’s flattened, tightly cropped portraits such as *Nikki II* and *Yvonne in Green* sit beside Opie’s graphic silhouettes, paintings on stone and continuous computer animations. Together they ask how little visual information it takes for a face, a stance or a single line to become instantly recognizable.
