Yalda Moaiery is an Iranian photojournalist and activist renowned for her compelling documentation of women’s rights in Iran, social movements, and political strife globally. This exhibition presents a selection of photographs from Moaiery’s iconic photographs not only capture prescient moments, but also tell the stories of resistance, resilience, and the ongoing fight for women’s rights in Iran, offering a window into intense and politically charged turning points. In this exhibition, Moaiery captures the complexities and contradictions of contemporary life in Iran, while risking her own safety after serving two years in prison, and being sentenced to an additional eight years for her photographs of the Woman, Life, Freedom protests. Yalda Moaiery: A Solo Photography Exhibition is presented in honor of the third anniversary of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. Moaiery’s work has been widely published in international outlets such as Le Monde, Le Figaro, TIME, The Washington Post, Elle, Liberation, The Mail on Sunday, the San Francisco Chronicle, and The New York Times, among others. In 2023, she was awarded the IWMF Courage in Journalism Award, and in 2024 she received the Wallis Annenberg Justice for Women Journalists Award.
