A Moment in Time: Plaster Surrogates, 1991–1993 presents historical works by Allan McCollum from his Plaster Surrogates series. Composed of serially produced yet materially distinct cast objects, the works examine how artworks function as signs and how value is assigned through systems of display, repetition, and difference. Painted surfaces, frames, and voids emphasize tensions between uniqueness and mass production, authorship and convention.
