BAXTER ST presents Zainab Aliyu’s A litany for past suns, featuring reworked stereographs drawn from family and community archives. Pairing images by hand, Aliyu challenges archival and technological systems that misread Black lived experience. Installation elements evoke domestic space and negotiated access, while speculative texts counter machine captions. The work calls for intimate looking, honoring memory as embodied, relational, and resistant to erasure.
