Forty-eight wind chimes suspended above Cortlandt Alley, installed across seven east-facing windows, activated by wind, not by a composer's hand. 48 Wind Chimes is a site-specific sound installation by experimental composer Skip Laplante, whose five-decade practice explores the sonic possibilities of ordinary objects. Each chime generates a distinct acoustic constellation; gathered together, their interactions exceed any fixed compositional scheme.
