Charlemagne Palestine returns to Los Angeles for a rare performance of his monumental Strumming Music, which he has been developing since the early 1970s. He calls it not a composition but 'an evolutionary liquid sound continuum process,' performed in hundreds of versions over 50-plus years. Palestine's strumming technique, derived from flamenco and chime playing, uses repetition, physicality and the instrument's own resonance to draw out spontaneous harmonics in pursuit of the 'golden sound.'
