Roger Brown (1941-1997) was a leading member of the Chicago Imagists, known for vividly colored paintings that fused humor, symbolism, and social critique. Drawing on folk art, Surrealism, popular culture, and art history, he explored themes of urban life, environmental forces, politics, and queer identity. His work is held in major museums including MoMA, the Met, the Whitney, LACMA, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
