Nir Hod is an Israeli contemporary artist known for his provocative, hyperrealistic paintings and emotionally resonant conceptual works.
Born in Tel Aviv in 1970, he studied at Bezalel Academy and Cooper Union before establishing his practice in New York. Hod explores themes of beauty, identity, memory, and decadence, often blending historical reference with glamorized imagery.
Notable series include Genius, featuring aristocratic youths, and Mother, which reimagines Holocaust imagery to confront trauma through beauty.
His work has been exhibited globally, including at MoMA and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, and continues to challenge perceptions of history, narcissism, and aesthetic experience.
