Mika Tajima creates sculptures, paintings, textiles, performances, and installations that examine how technology, architecture, and systems of labor shape human behavior, identity, and personal agency. Her work explores the often unseen ways physical and digital environments influence our bodies, emotions, and relationships.
A central aspect of Tajima’s practice is translating invisible data into physical form. In her ongoing Negative Entropy series, recordings from factories, data centers, and human voices are transformed into woven Jacquard textiles, converting the sounds of labor and technology into abstract portraits. Other works use real-time social, political, and economic data to create immersive installations of light, vapor, and color that visualize collective emotional states.
