Michelangelo Pistoletto (b. 1933, Biella, Italy) is a leading figure of Arte Povera. Since the early 1960s his Mirror Paintings, figures printed on polished steel, have placed the viewer inside the work, and the mirror remains central to his practice. He founded Cittadellarte in Biella to connect art with social change, and continues to explore reflection, participation and memory.
