David Lynch (1946–2025) was a filmmaker and visual artist who lived in Los Angeles for more than fifty years. After five years studying painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, he moved to LA in 1972 as an American Film Institute fellow and made Eraserhead (1977). He never abandoned the studio, developing his visual art in parallel with his films.
