David Byrne (b. 1952) is a Scottish American artist, musician, writer, and filmmaker whose multidisciplinary practice spans music, performance, visual art, photography, and installation. Best known as the co-founder and frontman of Talking Heads, Byrne has also developed an acclaimed visual art practice that explores human behavior, systems of communication, architecture, and the built environment with wit and conceptual rigor. His work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including Pace Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, and the Barbican Centre. Byrne is the recipient of numerous honors, including an Academy Award, Grammy Awards, and a Golden Globe, and continues to create projects that bridge art, design, music, and technology.
