Arlene Shechet

Arlene Shechet is a sculptor known for precarious, gravity-defying forms that combine disparate materials. Working with clay since 2007, she has helped lead a resurgence of ceramics in contemporary art. Major projects include a 2015 survey at the ICA Boston, a 2018 public installation in Madison Square Park, and Girl Group at Storm King Art Center in 2024. She was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2023.
