Makinti Napanangka, a Pintupi artist from the Western Desert, developed a painting practice grounded in embodied memory and sensation. Working through shifting physical capacities, her canvases record touch, rhythm, and ceremonial knowledge through layered, gestural marks. Across her later career, painting functioned as a physical engagement with Country rather than a purely visual act.
